am i mis-remembering... but i could have sworn that 'detective show' actor DIED from a 'trick' gunshot wound several episodes ago?

the actor, the writer (the killer), some lady, and the show's producer were at a 'lodge' up in the mountains having a group thing while meeting to discuss plotlines and stuff for the next season... and Kogoro, Ran, n Conan show up... the lady almost skewers Kogoro driving while she's practicing her archery, an arrow of hers deflects off the target and whizzes into the car's window. there was a chasm with a cliff across from the lodge, a rifle, a soaking wet rope descending to a river below, and a fake sniper's perch... there was even a 'garden dining room' of sorts. more like a huge deck/patio with six big tables etc.

the actor, the lady, and the producer step off the patio into the lodge. actor heads to his room (to be killed), the lady is in the room next to his ... of course the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor with balconies and windows facing the cliff... the writer goes to get some more beer and comes back. but suddenly sits at another table because he gets 'inspired' n writes... the producer steps out to make some phone calls at the front desk of the lodge... n there's a gunshot... the lady comes out to see a 'bullet hole' through the glass into the actor's room and he's been shot in the head.

the trick was, the writer shot through the window earlier into the mattress in the room. retrieved his bullet, sharpened its tip and put a hole in the base. he even collects the glass fragments off the floor to replace them at the 'murder scene' later on. then the writer puts a crossbow bolt into the bullet 'arrowhead' and shoots the actor in the head from inside the room with a crossbow. then the writer unscrews the crossbow bolt from the bullet arrowhead's base and discards the whole thing in a storage-room in the lodge. while he was by himself outside on the patio the writer drops a tiny explosive into the chasm simulating the gunshot.

Conan figures out the 'trick' because the writer cleaned up some of the mattress stuffing along with the glass in front of the window from when the writer first shot through the window into the mattress. when he leaves the glass at the 'murder scene' the writer also leaves that stuffing behind. so Conan checks the mattress in the actor's room and yep, there's a big bullet hole in it. the cops of course during the autopsy yank the bullet outta the actor's head and mhm it was turned into an arrowhead.

anyways, i coulda sworn this guy here was that actor... hhmmmmm! :/

Yeah I remember that one. I think that was actually just a completely different detective show. Like the main detective show that Conan watches is detective Samonji, which I think is introduced in this case, which is like mentioned in later episodes and is reoccurring. But they'll also have random detective shows that only stick around for one or two episodes, which is what that one was

I mean conan and friends had to solve this case regarding the novel writer of that show he loved

I think this is the last time the voice actor for yoko was replaced by a new one as well

Eyedrops? I bet it was the manager, he was crying whilst signing the shikishi and the lipstick print could have been rubbed off the shikishi the lady signed earlier. Plus she kissed it after she signed and it was handed to him afterwards the lipstick print could have still been wet enough.

Came here from ep 727 just to check on Osamu Kenzaki who reappears once again its so cool to look back at this ep. Love how the makers of the anime kept the continuity.

not really, when I notice something I feel I have seen somewhere, I check the the appearances on the conan wiki and try to remember where some characters appeared. Sometimes its hard to remember if there are 1000+ episodes (and Im watching this over the years, episode or two per day, sometime maybe none). I rewatch the older eps on german RTL 2, they air sometime 18;55 UTC+ 1, but aftrer I finish this masterpiece sometime around the end of this year (hopefully), im planing to rewatch some gem episodes (for the sake of nostalgia xD). What about you ? Have you watched this anime till the end?
